About Us: Overview
The Beechwood School is a family owned, independent, state licensed preschool and kindergarten. It opened in 1951 at its present site by the Rodman family. It was one of the first nursery schools and summer camps in the area.
In May 1979, the Hutchinson family took over. While continuing the tradition of providing a quality preschool and kindergarten program, they added child care. Today, two of the Hutchinson sisters, Marge McElroy and Susan Hagan, continue providing quality preschool and kindergarten programs for both the half-day and full-day student.
The school has grown from thirty children in September 1979 to a daily enrollment of approximately one hundred children. Presently the aim is to maintain the current registration level without increasing it further. By doing this, a family atmosphere can be provided and each child can be known personally by the administration.
Enrollment is open to any toilet-trained child, age two and a half (2½) years by September, through six (6) years by June, provided the school can meet the child's needs.
